vuarnet Trashghost / gh0st never fails to bring a groove. Being an early player in the game and constantly releasing modern classics.

Spectral Lament provides such a good example for why Vaporwave is still alive and going. Tracks like Taken and Satisfy Me give an understanding of Trashghost's work and Honest (ft. BABEFAKE) stand out providing a more enticing experience with its upbeat, but still laid-back melody. Favorite track: Honest ft BABEFAKE.

Michael Kuhlman I just heard your interview on The Private Suite podcast and I really enjoyed getting to know you as a creator. At the end of the podcast, they played two songs from this album and I just had to support it. Vaporwave has hit a strange dry spell to me, but you are really refreshing the scene. I love your style and I love what you’re doing, please consider a vinyl release! :) Favorite track: Awaken.

about

What is this? ....memories? But why now? Here?
.....
...... are these.... my memories? They feel so strange and foreign, yet so familiar. I can't remember it all now, but ...maybe....

Album review by Vito_James (DMT-FL)

What makes you think that if vaporwave died, that its ghost wouldn't continue to go on doing exactly what it always has been? Nobody ever considers that. They also don't consider that vaporwave was born dead, operated within entirely while dead, and therefore saying that vaporwave is dead is a moot and redundant point to make. It's always been a mirage! some, myself included, might exclaim. The joy of this genre for me is the revitalization of the past in a newer, cozier bedroom lo-fi context, and so many people know me today as somebody who indulges in thousands upon thousands of records in the vaporwave genre. I seriously cannot stop, between my soft introduction to James Ferraro and Saint Pepsi in 2012-13 to where we are today with a nearly 700+ piece collection of my very own in DMT Tapes FL. One of the best artists we've acquired, after years of support as a fan, is the impeccably talented t r a s h g h 0 s t charging forward in late wintertime 2018 with ゴミファントム. Sublimity. I started this review by mentioning the tired and overspoken sentiment that quote, "vaporwave is dead." Who better than an artist whose avatar is a literal ghost to give me consistently invigorating music in this genre, that all three times now (as this is the third LP I know of trashgh0st), I have said, "There is no way my interest in this genre could possibly waver when we have albums like this coming out still!" I said it last winter when self-titled dropped, I said it again in the summertime while we were graced by Ghoul's Nite Out. And now I have the honor of announcing that Halcyon Tapes has their very own entry from the spectral savior of sampling. And it is spooky good.

Right away I am smitten by how many songs we have. Fifteen! If you take the original cuts from the two albums we did together, you get a clean set of sixteen bustling OG tunes (not to mention a litany of remixes on album two of cuts featured and redone from album one!) It's like we got a double-album by trashie's standards, and so into this journey I plunged headfirst on a Thursday at 8:32AM. This is not generally the time of day that I pick vaporwave; I like there to be less sunlight spilling from around my ill-fitted plastic drapes when I'm vibin' on reverb and fuzz. But... this is actually one hell of a way to start the day. Spectral Lament plays out like a giant collage due to the unique flow granted with a one-two punch of introduction tracks, each with a 'one' [1] in their duration minutewise. The album really sinks into itself from there, going deeper and deeper down the mineshaft of itself to ensure that every crevice of this explored place is properly, and equitably, haunted by chill spirit. I think before I ever heard the music of trashgh0st, I would've pegged the sound I expect to hear to be more grim due to the usual connection between ghosts and the occult, or Halloweentime, or unexplained paranormal phenomenon that goes bump in the night. Instead I find myself bridled by optimism and so content that I could sit in this very spot and become a ghost myself, forgetting to be a corporeal being because I hit repeat on this amazing album instead of getting up and continuing with my day as I do after most album listening sessions.

The year is still early, and so I hope that we will see the followup before the end of the 2010s. Q2 reared its head the very day after this album dropped, and so I want people going into 2019 to know such fire is here to enjoy, and that it is very likely a harbinger of true ghostly glory. What lies ahead for this expert curator? Only your ears will lead you to that exhilarating answer! Get this today.
